Greensboro, NC– For the first time, wireless telephones outnumber conventional, land line subscriptions in North Carolina.
That’s thanks mainly to young people willing to trade the inconvenience of dropped calls for less expense.
About a year ago, BellSouth estimates, the number of land lines fell and the number of cell phones rose to 5.1 million each. Now, the company estimates, wireless phones have grown to around 5.4 million, while land lines have fallen to 4.9 million.
Mobility is the biggest asset for cell phone users.
this is a timely article as i was researching options yesterday for my security system monitoring. the only reason I’m w/ Bellsouth is because of my system. Telcos and their mysterious fees irk me. I rarely use my home phone, mostly then just for incoming calls. The security company offers cellular backup and VOIP (voice over IP/broadband phone service) monitoring. sweet!
