Toymaker Mattel Says Barbie, Ken Are Separating
Those who know tell us that Barbie and Ken are calling it quits.
After 43 years, Barbie, the world’s most popular doll, is reportedly separating from her boyfriend, Ken. Toymaker Mattel’s marketing vice president says only that the glamorous couple decided to separate but will “remain friends”.
Coincidentally or not, Mattel has just introduced a new incarnation of Barbie, “The Cali” or California Barbie, with an up-to-date wardrobe, a new tan — and a new admirer, Blaine.
The popular Barbie Doll is sold in 150 countries. Mattel introduced Barbie in 1959, and followed with a seemingly endless line of wardrobes – including bridal gowns. Ken arrived two years later.
Few details are known about Blaine, except that he is Australian and has a boogie board.
