I try not to compare the two shows directly as they were both strong out the gate in their first seasons, which is where Heroes is now (this still IS the first season, right? or what?). But Heroes does manage to answer many questions in the same season that they’re posed.
*cough* @ Lost.
The other thing that really separates the two that I can talk about is the online content portion. Where I go to watch what I didn’t see on original airing. Trying to find Lost’s last episode is like playing a game of Whack-A-Mole, once I get past the American Express LOST AND FOUND card-member access-only site. I have to click fast to close videos that show scenes for the episode after the one I still haven’t seen yet. I have to go through 2 differently branded pages before I get to the ABC videos page. and once I get there….
the show’s divvied up in segments that REQUIRE ME TO STOP WHAT I’M DOING (riding the stationary bike mostly) and “Click to Continue” at the end of each one. passive watching shouldn’t be so interactive.
with Heroes, I don’t have those problems. The Watch Episodes link is right on the homepage. I don’t mind sitting through the same commercial between every segment, and all parts play consecutively.
I absolutely agree with your statements about ABC’s online viewing setup. It does suck to have to stop what you’re doing to ‘click to continue.’ I got smart on their a**es and just took my mouse with me to the recliner.
