Chatting with Rochelle about comedy, culture and class led me to ponder: when was the last intellectual african american comedy to debut in a movie theater?
– feel free to contribute –
I went back to Best Man for close fit. but I was challenged by my other peeps about if that was a comedy at all.
is it a money thing? do the powers that be think there’s no demand for intelligent well written comedy?
dont know if Best Man was comedy, but heck was it intellectual?–not so sure what you mean by “intellectual AA comedy” here –I can’t think of a one. Everything that I think of is a drama.
