Wichita — A woman collapsed Wednesday during a screening of “The Passion of the Christ” and later died at a hospital.
The Wichita Eagle identified the woman as Peggy Law Scott, 57. No cause of death was immediately available.
Scott was attending a 9:30 a.m. showing of the movie with some co-workers from Clear Channel Radio when she collapsed about 20 minutes before the end of the movie.
KAKE-TV, which was filming a story on local reactions to the film, reported that Scott collapsed during the film’s bloody crucifixion scene.
Scott was taken to the St. Joseph campus of Via Christi Regional Medical Center. Roz Hutchinson, a spokeswoman for the hospital, confirmed the death.
An autopsy will be conducted on Thursday, according to a spokeswoman for Sedgwick County.
I know that the ladies death is no laughing matter, but i can’t help but laugh at the title of this blog
I agree – well done!
hmmm, yeah i reckon she did.
Why do you think it was during the bloody crucifixion scene? LOL I think Mel went a bit far with this movie. It seems anti-semetic even in the interviews he has given. Let’s see what the rest of the world has to say now that Christians are allegedly dying from the graphic nature of the film.
Firstly, the article never says that the woman that dies is a christian. Secondly, Mel made the movie less graphic than the actual event really was. Witnessing that event today would surly kill any man. Crucifixion was entertainment for people back in those days. People were also crucified when the town had upwards of 100,000 people in it. I’m sure there were people in the crowds witnessing the event that had heart attacks and died too. Thirdly, who’s to say that she died due to the movies graphic content. Was everyone in her mind, heart and soul at the time of her death. For all we know she was having a heart to heart with God and at giving her life over to him, he simply took it. Lastly, Jesus said himself to Pilate, “you would have no power over me, were it not given to you from above.” Hence, the Jews nor the Romans had Christ crucified…God himself sent Jesus here to die. It was Jesus soul purpose for being born. If Jesus had said to the father, “no, I will not be punished for the sins of man.” We would all live short lives, dying at age 33. God gives all of us the opportunity to know him. He makes it our choice. He also tells us to either believe all of the bible or none of it. That is also our choice. In doing so, you either know him or you don’t. That’s why he gives a lifetime to decide. But then again time was made for man and not God, and our time is running out. The wrong decision isn’t a matter of life and death. But a matter of eternal life in heaven or eternal life in hell. When you’re on your deathbed, I bet you don’t scream out the name of the devil to save you. Then again, he’s not the one that saves, but destroys. And if you’re questioning why God lets so many bad things happen in the world and doesn’t stop them…ask yourself why you do so many immoral things and keep doing them without stopping. Sure God can stop all the bad happening in the world. But so can man. The problem is, is that man is too ignorant, greedy, and selfserving to do so.
Laugh if you must. For there will come a day when the TRUTH will be revealed to the entire world. Those that believe already see. Those that don’t, will see when it’s too late.
I believe God or Jesus is real wh ywould anyone collapse because the movie had graphics that were brutal. They must have truly been loyal to God they must have been loving, compassionate people. We don’t need any proof to show that God is reall or Jesus we know because think about it who would have the time to make the whole bible up i mean create everything who would have an imagination like that, when there were no movies with witch craft around or any one knowing about the miracles. Please believe in God and don’t laugh God may forgive you, but he may not. The information for the bible could have bee npassed on from anscestor to anscestor and the information could be grouped together to make the bible. Some things could have been added but most of the bible would be real. Please don’t judge my belief about God you can have your opinion but you don’t need to share it to ruin their beliefs.

This seems so ireall how people collapsed when Jesus was being beaten or crucified in the movie. I believe in a higher being but I think that because the stories in the bible have been passed down for such a long time that the stories may have been changed a slight bit. He may have just been one of the first doctors who invented cures. This is so mind boggling and I still find it too hard to understand. Maybe someone wants us to not understand so that we believe in something. Or else there would be no meaning in life. I hope that one day I will find out why we were created. Perhaps its just something to do with science or maybe something else
