We got our Movie watching on this weekend and now we have seen 4.5 of the 5 movies that were nominated for Best Picture. (halfway through Erin Brokovich on video). I am a movie nut and have always been. Primarily Action/Sci Fi/Comedy and since I have been married I have had to expand my selection.
I rate movies probably like most people do.
***** I’d buy it on DVD
**** I’d pay full price for it at the theater and maybe see it again
*** Matinee
** Rental/Dollar movie(although don’t have one of those anymore)
* The trailer was enough
I rate the movies for best picture in the following order of preference
Traffic
Chocolat
Gladiator
Crouching Tiger
Erin Brokovich
with Traffic and Chocolate damn near tied and Gladiator and Crouching Tiger also damn near tied
Janeen however LOVED Gladiator and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

I wanted to like Crouching Tiger but had to suspend too much disbelief, but I guess that goes with the genre. The fight scenes were jaw dropping, and the subtitles were not a problem for me. Gladiator was good, but I am not enthusiastic about it as Janeen was…maybe I need to see it again. maybe I was sleepy that day. Traffic was a well rounded movie…I liked the different perspectives of the drug trade. I think if people are expecting an action movie they will be disappointed. Erin B. so far is good…I really enjoyed Chocolat…it was a feelgood movie. The villian, who seemed like a watered down Snidely Whiplash (who the actor Alfred Molina also played), was not a total a-hole, but he was still a bit of a hater, who you kinda pitied. We ended up going to Godiva’s after we saw this movie.
