I watched with Rochelle last night. deservedly RottenTomatoes.com’s highest rated movie of the year at my last check. Michele Gondry’s 2 movies I’ve seen are high on my favorites list (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind being the other). This movie is one of those rarities where I was disappointed when it came to an end. But it felt like a refreshing palate cleanser to all of the excessive press that Dave was getting over the Comedy Central departure. Erykah won me over with the hips then she lost me w/ the fronts and the wig. Call me bourgie or old school, I can’t get w/ concept of a woman rocking fronts as being attractive. that’s just me. Me and R’s ongoing points and counterpoints would have made a great commentary track for this movie if we’d only recorded it as I wish I’d done many times. i’m going to have to sneak a recorder up in there next time.
Jill Scott.
Jill. Scott.
My love for her has been rekindled. y’all don’t hear me. As I said last night, in the universe where Jill Scott would call me on my phone and say “let’s go.” I would be out. Peace. just like in the movies, whereever I was sitting you’d see the chair spinning and you hear a door slam. Just let me satisfy my commitments here and I’m out. No work on Monday, I might get a few clothes out of the house and I’d be on my way up I95. Bye. that simple.
I saw a lot of performers named in the special thanks credits (Keyshia Cole, Pharoah Monch and others) who I didn’t see a trace of in the movie, i guess their parts were edited out. I didn’t look at any of the extra features.
You should watch the episode of “Inside The Actor’s Studio” that features Dave Chapelle. You get to see a completely different side of him that is really cool.
See the recent “Essence” magazine with (that awful) Mo’Nique on the cover…Jill Scott interviews her. Pictures and all.
“Let’s go!” — ok so I’m not Jilly from Philly, but many say I resemble her and boy can I sang!
