Looking forward to seeing G, although I have no point of reference, being unfamiliar with The Great Gatsby from which it’s based. I see that Christopher Cherot is directing and has Haviland Plenty as his star.
Which remind me of a few of my favorite no budget movies. Things I enjoy based on “i probably would have done it that way” level of respect.
Hav Plenty– it kept my interest, I could tell it was probably shot within a week. sets were minimal, it seemed like a low key shoot.
Knowing Richard Black– this movie made me really want to invest in a digital video camera. it was semi documentary style with additional footage shot afterwards, restaging some scenes. just a lot of the camera rolling and wondering what happens next.
Primer – This movie, about the consequences of time travel, was shot for 7 grand. that’s all. no digital effects. but was so frickin layered and plausible, it stuck with me for weeks. I did need to go to the website for help with the story because it was so mindblowing.
Looking forward to seeing G and wondering how much like The Great Gatsby it will remain…I read the book and saw a movie. The only one of the no budgets I’ve seen is Hav Plenty and that was years ago. Technically it left something to be desired if my memory serves me right but the story line was cute.
I saw it over the weekend. My thoughts: Low Budget and I didn’t particuallarly like Blair Underwood’s character in the movie. But “G” is a very interesting individual.
P.S. I need to quit reading them Zhane books
I have every intention of seeing G this weekend, especially since Hav Plenty has been watched more than 3 times at the house and I’ve been waiting on it for a couple of years.
