i had the urge to call my grandmother this morning, and she told me about the lady across the street where i spent my teenage years, that this lady’s brotherand wife died at their home in Texas, the hometown gossip was that it must have been foul play.. needless to say, my grandmother said she was devastated. I didn’t know she had a brother. and as I was talking to my grandmother I googled it, and found the following story:

(10/04/06 – KTRK/HOUSTON) – It was a violent night in northwest Harris County, where two bodies were found in a burning home and a teenager who had been shot was found at a nearby fast food restaurant.

Police say that girl lived at the home on Estes Park at Mesa Park where the bodies were found.

Homicide investigators are looking at this as a death investigation, but family members say there’s much more to the story. They say they talked to Kimbrea Edwards, 16, who was home Tuesday night. They say she told them that she and her mother, Denecia Edwards, were at home when her father, Aubry Edwards, arrived and shot his wife several times in front of her. He then turned the gun on Kimbrea. She reportedly pleaded with him to not kill her.

He then fired one shot, grazing her on the side of the face. According to the relatives, that teenage girl said she managed to run upstairs and jump out of a second story window, ending up at a nearby McDonald’s, where she called 911.

The father, they believe, set the house on fire before turning the gun on himself.

Investigators say they know for sure the woman in the house was shot, but they don’t know how the man died. At this point, they don’t know who did the shooting.

Those questions are doing little to ease the concerns of neighbors.

“It’s something that you could never imagine,” said neighbor Willie Randle. “I’ve talked to other neighbors. None of us could have foreseen this coming.”

“When my wife told me about that after passing through here coming from a walk, I wanted to come over here and I didn’t want to come over here,” said another neighbor we spoke with. “It just made me feel so bad just to hear. I don’t have words to express it.”

Investigators removed several vehicles from the home. They also recovered a small handgun in the house.

They continue to investigate the claims of the 16-year-old girl. She was in the hospital, but has since been released. Officers confirm there had been three disturbance calls to the home in the past year, but no charges were filed.

Family members believe Edwards was upset over recently learning his wife was planning to leave him.
