I honestly thought about going to church this Sunday, but it’d been so long I forgot which pair of Sundays held the 8 AM service. (was it 1st and 3rd? or was that 2nd and 4th?)
So Saturday I headed to Lowes to scout knobs for my cabinets, and came up on this traffic jam that preceeded an unusual non-workday wreck. And my phone rings, unfamiliar number. the convo went a lil something like this:
Me: Hello
Them: Hey, Stephen it’s *a church member*, Where you been?
Me: Uh, been taking a break… (knots form in stomach)
Them: Haven’t seen you around, got some work for ya!
Me: You got some web stuff for me to do? (knots)
Them: Got some work for ya!
Me: You can always email it to me…
Them: Or, you can come to church.
At this point, i had just passed the accident and didn’t get a good rubberneck going.
I did not make it to church. Sunday I had a missed call from another unfamiliar number. The voicemail let me know it was the pastor. I called him back because I really wanted him to know what my deal was firsthand.
My points were:
I also had a problem with using resources @ my job when asked and having to enlist the aid of my manager who had sole access to those resources. So he apologized on behalf of himself and some members. to be continued.
how’s the selection of cabinet knobs at Lowes? I’m looking for some too–my most recent home project.
wow..church drama!Lawdhamercy.
It’s pretty odd that they are “sweatin” you to join a ministry and you havent even said yes to joining the church–and a call from the pastor–no less! Also, sounds like this is a pretty large congregation since you said it’s so crowded. They must have a recruiting ministry
You know, folks read the Catholic Church, but I will say this–they don’t bother you–to go, give OR work.
I think the main lesson was spiritual. God wanted you to be honest about this, and since you called the pastor back and was honest with him, God was like, cool, whenever you get there is fine with me.
I’m going to say very little…except that’s all you had to do in the first place – say it – and be done. Now, don’t you feel better? See…all works in mysterious ways. 🙂
u did the right thing. r u a member of one of those mega churches down there? it can be very overwhelming….
