so we’re wondering who’s taking our For Sale signs at the entrance of the ‘hood.
Someone’s taken 2 that j have placed. meanwhile there’s a sign for another house that’s there that’s still intact. a couple of our neighbors start “being neighborly” and are calling us to see what’s up since they see the sign on our lawn. I talk to one, J tries to catch up with the other one.
edit: it might be a city ordinance
Neighbor G: I was wondering if you guys were moving because what happened a few weeks ago?
J: Huh? No, what happened?
<setting>we used to live at the lot at the end of the street which backed up to woods, now the woods are gone and they’re building another development and starting to build a road through. the developers promised that no heavy trucks woud pass through our neighborhood.</setting>
my understanding of events:
Neighbor G commences to tell J a tale about seeing trucks pass through the neighborhood so she goes down to the end of the street to see what’s up, but parks in our driveway, gets out and stares at the workers.
there’s some back and forth what-are-you-doing/i’ll-do-what-i-damn-well-please-and-you-should-go-back-up-north-where-you-came-from type of exchange that ends with a slap to the construction worker’s face. 6 po-po units are dispatched and there’s a spectacle which draws out a few of the daytime dwelling neighbors. she somehow avoids getting locked up.
all of this taking place in front of our house.
and we’re just finding out about it weeks later, and wouldn’t have if we hadn’t put up signs. so, i’m wondering if the contstruction guys think neighbor G lives here, is trying to move and they’re paying her back.
in a related note, i forgot how much of a bitch house hunting can be.
