on Friday at work, i put on the hat of boom mike operator. it wasn’t the hardest thing in the world but it was far from glamorous. the takes, the retakes, the downtime, the trying to keep a straight face at all times because I’m a professional. After being “on set” and seeing how the process works, I have a newfound respect for our video producer R and my friend S who acutally does this for a living.
Working boom is the least glamorous thing to do in production! I used to hate it. My arms would get tired and it seemed as if I was never holding that stupid pole in the right place…ack!
YO!!!! You didn’t call for pointers!?!?!?!?!?!? WHAT THE HELL!!!!!AND, that’s, Boom Operator (not boom “mike” operator). The “pole” is not “stupid”. It is our friend. You must put the mike on axis and stay on it or you’ll get bad sound.
