i had Jury Duty today…

i was going to write a long descriptive post about it. about how we were sitting in there bored to death and we all were overcome by the smell of cooked food that someone must have smuggled up in the jury pool room. about how important this task was as a citizen (as told by long deceased North Carolinian Charles Kuralt) and how people died for the right to sit on a jury (as told by the judge) but everyone wished they were somewhere else. about how interesting it was to sit in the courtroom during the actual jury selection process. but i’m not. you want to know why?

because on the way home my driver’s side window switch shorted out and is stuck down in the door after handing the parking lot guy my validated ticket right before it began to rain, and I know it’s a shorted switch because I took it out, apart and broke it down to the last compound. i know the problem, i can’t fix it and I want just the part, no labor please, but in the here and now, the window’s still stuck on open.

and so i sit down to console myself w/ some brownies i baked last night, and my hand hits the glass of milk which I overcompensate for and a stream of milk goes over to my home entertainment center, and the words that usually say “TV SOUND” or “DVD” on the Stereo component are now silently saying “OVERLOAD”.

after a quick shutdown and cleanup operation everything seems to be back to normal. on the bright side I got my chess game in the mail today and am going through the tutorial. Tomorrow I take a chilly ride to the Saturn dealership first thing in the morning.

update – diagnosis correct – defective part replaced.
